Beat the Traffic! 100% Garmin GPS C340

May 15th, 2006

Waiting around and wasting time sitting still in traffic jams wears the best of us down, I for one hate it. Now I know hate is a strong word, but I do highly dislike sitting in a five mile back up on I95 South after having spent a few hours on the NJTP now endlessly waiting to get on 695 just outside of Baltimore! But there is a solution – and it’s called Garmin!

Garmin’s advertising slogan for their C340 vehicle navigation system, “beat the traffic before it beats you ” isn’t tired marketing hype it’s got alot of truth bundled in it.

Even if you miss the freeway exit ramp don;t dispair, you can still have your route recalculated with the Garmn c340 guiding you. Plus you’ve got both your pre-loaded and customized POIs as well including a user-friendly 3.5-inch diagonal touch-screen interface (TFT display), that is a breeze to navigate.

What makes the Garmin c340 GPS car navigator stand out from the rest of the pack of car GPS receivers on the market today?

City navigator NT comes with US Street Data
The answer is 3 distinct advantages:
GTM 10 FM TMC receiver
Avoid annoying traffic jams before you’re smack in the middle of one with a color-coded map that lets you see the traffic congested area in advance. this is made possible because of a FM-band traffic receiver that connects between car stereo and antenna
City Navigator NT
Imagine having 6 million POIs (Points of Interest) at your finger tips in front of your eyes.
POI Loader software
You can go ahead and import whatever POIs you desire!!

GPS Geocaching – high-tech treasure hunt!

May 4th, 2006

A $400,000 Federal grant coined the MATRIX (Math Achievement To Realize Individual Excellence program) provided 40 GPS units, 175 Palm Pilots, Smart Boards, laptops, computers and geoboards for the Keyport and Redbank districts to experience geocaching – a high-tech treasure hunt with satellite-guided hand-held GPS gadgets. Setting up global positioning satellite waypoints and hiding secret caches the school district enjoyed a day of geocaching. With geocaching and GPS, children learn navigational skills while improving their math. Each kid used a GPS unit to hide their cache, mark its location, then post the waypoint locations on they post the coordinates on the Internet with clues about the exact location for people to try and find the hidden caches.Make sure to check out our new:

The 800 Road Mate navigational reciever has a built-in MP3 Player plus photo viewer! With a memory of 4.5 GB, yup you read that one right, 4.5 Giga to store your music and photos – this is more than a plain vanillia guidence system.Over the past few years several GPS manufacturers have introduced new technologies with some breakthroughs.

The Magellan GPS Roadmate 800 is one of these success stories worth a close-up look. Magellan over the years has had alot success simplifying the set-up of it’s recievers and with Road Mate 800’s plug and play system they’ve developed a product with the customer in mind instead of thinking of him or her as just a “user” they’ve included components that recognize that in the end it’s a person with feelings and thoughts that uses the GPS product.

For example, you can enter up to 200 of your personal addresses for convenience, you can keep more than six million POIs and another mil of your own customized POIs too.
At a mere 10.8 ounces and 3.15 x 1.55 x 6.26-inches you can’t go wrong with this one.

GPS Garmin iQue 3000

April 22nd, 2006

Palm-based Garmin iQue 3000 is a decent combination organizer and GPS unit, though it comes up a bit short in terms of functionality. A nicely designed PDA, the Garmin iQue 3000 comes with a sensitive GPS receiver. It also has maps of North America plus an SD card. Garmin iQue 3000 operates on Palm OS 5 though suprisingly doesn’t have both Bluetooth & Wi-Fi. It’s design leaves alot to be desired and it performs slowly.
