GPS Saving Lives
December 31st, 2005
2005 almost ended in tragedy in Salt lake city when a group of snowmobilers were lost in the Wasatch County mountains–as a storm came in suddenly, disorienting them and wiping out their tracks. The extreme weather conditions forced Wasatch County Sherriffs Office to temporarily call off their search. Emergency help soon arrived after one of the snowmobilers realized he had GPS coordinates on his cell phone. The four survivors were lost in an area known as Tower Mountain in the Uinta National Forest about 15 miles east of Heber City.
